Salem Notary

I'm Jean Dion, Salem notary. I primarily serve clients in the Salem metro area. However, I'm qualified to help people throughout the state of Oregon. If you need something notarized, I would love to help.

What Does an Oregon Notary Do?

In Oregon, a notary is a professional with a commission from the Secretary of State. I've completed online classes and passed a test (with a perfect score!) to get a commission.

With my commission, I am authorized to witness a legal proceeding (like a document signing). My work ensures that someone signing a document knows what's involved in the document. I also ensure that a person's name on said document matches their legal identification.

What Doesn't an Oregon Notary Do?

A notary is not a lawyer. I am not an attorney licensed to practice law. I am not allowed to draft legal records, give advice on legal matters, including immigration, or charge a fee for those activities.

What's Needed for an  Appointment?

As part of the notary process, I'll need some kind of legal identification. That means you'll need to show something like a driver's license or passport. I'll check this document and ensure that your name and your signature match what you put on the notarized document.

You'll also need to provide the document(s) that require notarization. That means you'll need a hard copy.

What Do I Charge for Salem Notary Services?

I charge $10 per notarial act (in accordance with Oregon law). If you come to my office, this is the only fee you'll pay.

If I come to your office in Salem, I'll charge a $25 travel fee. If you're outside of the Salem area, I'll also charge $0.655 per mile round trip.
